Newcastle is located in KwaZulu-Natal and in the District municipality Amajuba District municipality [DC25] . The Local municipality of KZN252 consists of 31 wards. The new name of the municipality is Newcastle Local Municipality and the geographical area of the municipality is 1855.2560 square kilometres.

Mayor Sam Mlangeni. That was a good question took me a while to find it. See the link below and search for mayor, there is an ex mayor mentioned and one that replaced him as recently as October 2006.
