I think despite the darkness of the storyline, the whole thing is like a sad story. I've finished watching it, kinda feel due to some ancient grudges between 2 clans, there's bloodshed, even between lovers.
Erm, I would rate it a 4, not a bad anime (to me) ^_^
If you don't mind certain "bloody and abit of nude" scenes, plus abit of drag here and there, its actually okay to watch it =)
Personally, I like Kisaragi Saemon =)

It's a great storyline (I'd give it a 5) but I personally can't get into it. Not sure why.

i love it, i think that it real bloody and gory, but it caught my attention right away. Plus the love story is pretty good. 5
and gennosuke is pretty awesome!!!!!!!
