Fair question. It's a shame we're in a situation where you feel uneasy asking it.
No it's not a problem for me. I won't be watching it anyway.
Now, if the Queen did her message in a full head covering, I would watch.

Bless ya, I was gonna ask the same question.
When I read about this I was of mixed feeling.
My first feeling was that I could not understand why a person who does not believe in christ was doing the christmas thing, but then I looked at the broader picture.....
Christmas is not just about christ, I know it is mainly coz it is his birthday and all, but I thought that the christmas message that was brought about by his birth was goodwill to all people....
That being said, considering what majority of the muslim population has had to suffer because of some extremists causing HUGE amounts of pain and suffering to the world, It would perhaps be a good idea for us to remember that Christ believed in goodwill to all people.
Yes, it was some muslims who caused so much pain. Yes, the British people are worried about anyone who hides their identity because it is a potential threat. Yes, the people who have been directly affected by bombings would, probably find this xmas message hard to deal with.
Muslims have also suffered loss because of the bombings. I would not mind if the xmas message went ahead, but without the full head scalf....sorry, but I am entitled to an opinion. That way the muslim community can ask for the goodwill message to be sent, especially to their own extremist. It would be in their own interests for the identities of everyone to be seen. We have all had to change the way we live because of terrorism, traditions are subject to change along with everything else. It is a chance for the muslim community to also show goodwill and understanding to all men, the understanding being that of the safety issue for all of us.

First of all you are not racist. It is just the political correctness nazis that will say you are for even bringing the subject up. It is a good question and one that should be up for public discussion. There is far too much conjecture and ill-informed opinion on this type of subject right now.
Personally i think the veiled woman address thing is a good idea. For once C4 have come up with a genuinely interesting idea rather than having the Simpsons or Sharon Osbourne do it. It will be interesting to hear what she has to say.

Firstly you cant be called a racist, because muslims are not a race.
And i think its a ridiculous and insulting idea. What do you think the reaction of many muslims would be if C4 broadcast a sermon from the Koran during Eid, read by a christian evangelical or orthodox jewish rabbi?? Answer: Rioting, Fatwas, threats, the odd murder etc etc!

Channel 4 has always done an alternative Christmas message. It's never been about Christmas per se. If you want twaddle and tripe, watch the blinking Queen on the other side. For something a bit different, watch the Channel 4 version. It might just open your eyes to another way of thinking.

It makes me extremely angry. However, I am not surprised by anything that the British TV media does. They are a despicable bunch of unpatriotic lefties. I hope to God that nobody watches it. Why are you concerned about been seen as racist when you give an honest opinion?

I don't know about you Mame, but I am American. I am sorry the religious right conservatives tried to take over America and the world. We have them under control now. Most of them turned out to be giving their money to a meth head who spent it on gay prostitutes but they are sorry too.
We Mame, here in America do stupid and immoral things as you described. As a matter of fact that is the exact mentality is which we shall fight.

I am not against us becoming a more multicultural soceity, but I do feel that as a nation we do too much for foreigners and are losing our own heritage and traditions in the UK to make room for other cultures. I find it sad.

We don't have a choice do we. I won't be watching but it sounds like P.C going mad again. I feel sorry for her, I don't think she realised her six minutes of fame was going to cause such a rumpus. Merry Christmas one and all.xx
