Yes, I have a MW with vents to remove hot smelly or smokey air. There is a duct on top of my microwave that is attached to a vent that goes out the side of the house. The outside vent covers moves so when the MW is not on gravity keeps the vent closed--when I turn on the MW fan the air movement out blows the vent covers open.

They make counter top vents, that suck the air across the surface and down. Generally found on high priced kitchens. They are call downdraft vents because the pull the air "down"
