Without a doubt...George Carlin tops my list. I love his wit and I know comic timing is everything...but he's also quite intellectual and offers some pretty sound theories. As far as physical comedians go, Jim Carrey is pretty good, but give me a good ol'e dose of Carlin's take on life experiences any day!

George Carlin. The man is a genius with the English language - military intelligence, jumbo shrimp. He's articulate and funny as hell without bouncing off the walls like Jim Carrey and Robin Williams.

Jim Carrey!
Comedians are not only supposed to make you laugh, but they should make you feel good, too, and watching Carrey in Ace Ventura or Bruce Almighty manages to get me out of some of my worse funks.
Carlin is great, but when I go for entertainment, I don't want to be reminded too much of reality. He'd be my favorite political comedian.
