Yahoo is the best in appearance, smiley and some other options like offline messaging, games, etc.
Gmail is best in installing, for its simplicity, etc. You could use gmail chat even without installing. If you login to your gmail, you will have all the contact at the left and you can chat there itself.
Rediff is not that much good or prefered.

I like Gmail, but then Yahoo has lots of extras. I love the smileys!

From your question itself I can answer that we both are the users of YAHOO mail ID. And importantly a person use an item/facility continiuously for a long time, it indicate your love and trust in that. Therefore, I like YAHOO ID and is not for any trial with any other mail ID, unless &otherwise I meet with any undesirable or inconveniences with them. Too much folders, too much interferences. You are alone the champion to decide the options indicated in your question. I have indicated the trust I have in YAHOO mail and you may consider or not is your own decision.

For online messengers Gmail (google talk). for desktop id say MSN Ive used yahoo abit and never really liked it.
