Do you already have a scanner? If you do, the scanner may already be bungled with OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software. The OCR programme will change the scanned graphic image into text that can be edited in a wordprocessing programme, subject to the odd mis-interpretation requiring careful proof-reading on your part. Have a look at the disc that came with your scanner and see if there is an OCR programme on the disc. Some OCR info. here: http://desktoppub.about.com/cs/ocr/a/ocr.htm

There are softwares available which can be used to trace text froma scanned source. This may not generate 100% correct context. you may however have to reedit the content after scanning. using word or any other text editor.

You'll need to use an OCR application - the better ones are not free though... you'll probably spend less time by retyping it all manually at this point.
