Arkansas- close game with Florida in SEC championship full of backyard football, gets BLOWN OUT by USC earlier in the year.... is SEC really the best conference, or just the most even where everyone beats up on each other? What other big out of conference wins does the conference have?

It really depends on what you mean by strongest. If you mean, a lot of the teams are ranked then the SEC wins. Which at the beginning of the year had 1 more ranked team than any other conference, if I am not mistaken. If you mean this year, then I think the Big Ten is the better choice depending on the bowl games which make a big difference. I say the Big Ten because most projections have OSU beating FSU [by a reasonable margin], Mich has a good chance to beat USC, and likely Wisconsin [11-1 loss to Mich] will win its bowl game. I don't think you can dog a conference that almost sent three teams to the BCS bowls if not for a rule saying there can only be two teams from the same conference there. That being said this debate will never end until teams play more big out-of-conference games which will not happen because it hurts their chances of getting to bowl games. Most teams don't want harder schedules than they have. So, I guess, this debate will never end.

Top to bottom there is really no other conference that is as tough as the SEC. The Big 10 is usualy as good, but not this year and not consistantly.

Tenn pounded Cal early in the season and USC struggled with the same Cal team. USC pounded Arkansas early, but Arkansas is a different team today just as Cal is improved.
Auburn destroyed Washington St. LSU demolished Fresno St (not saying much). Georgia beat Georgia tech.

The SEC isn't always the toughest every year, but most of the time it is a safe bet. The competition is fierce and that in itself gives the SEC a little respect.

IMO the Big 10 is about the same.

C'est, wow, i do not understand what sort of faculty football you've been observing, even with the undeniable fact that the SEC's dominance began lengthy earlier 4 years in the past. before each and every thing, it has extra lengthy time period rivalries than the different convention. we've 24 reputable nationwide titles and eight Heisman winners. we've the most attendance for any convention each and every 12 months, and traditionally we've produced the countless best coaches. anybody who doesn't agree that the SEC is the perfect in CFB, is both blind and deaf, or suffers from some style of retardation. After them, the great 12 and %10 are respectable comferences and the great 10 a distinct fourth.

Half of their temas are in the top 20.

You do have a point though, when it comes to comparing SEC non conference games to others (like USC). Everyone knows OSU is giong to blow the crap out of Florida and if D-1 had a playoff Michigan would do the same, and probably USC.

In my opinion, SEC is only so prestigious because of it's highly ranked teams that are all overweighted by inpenetrable defenses and their lucky ability to snatch all the best athletes- I'm who wouldn't want game head at Miami or FSU?

I think once the Big 10 catches up with technology like USC and MU has, it's going to be those same classic teams again.

i agree with both of you, but lets be honest, what conference puts up the best teams year in and year out? The SEC is a conference to be reckoned with. Other conferences, like the big east looked great this year, but its just 1 year. In my opinion, the Pac10 played very well this year and those guys are deserving of credit, but the SEC does this every year. i would have to say the SEC is the toughest conference around, even tho i would like to see ohio state give michigan a rematch this year, as i feel they are the best competition for the powerhouse OSU team.

SEC is absolutely the toughest conf. The Arkansas team that USC beat was a totally different team. The Gators WILL defeat OSU.

This is coming from an Oklahoma fan so I don't have SEC bias, but YES - this year the SEC (if you're looking top to bottom) is the toughest.

They won against Cal, Florida State, and Georgia Tech, but ACC is down this year. Tell me this, who has the Big Ten beaten out of conference other than a sub-par Texas and overhyped Notre Dame?

It's the SEC. This year, no other conference is even close.
