Its as real as you. That country is up in arms about him and the women have rusty razor blades ready for him.

Borat is played by a British comedian.. Kazakhstan is a real country. The people in the movie are real people, who truly believed, at the time, that Borat was a reporter from Kazakhstan.. The humor in the movie comes from real American's reactions to a person from a different culture.. I loved it, I can see why some people don't like it, but I feel it points out how ignorant certain American's can be (like the head of the rodeo telling borat to shave his mustache so he doesn't look like a terrorist and he looks Italian.) Not many comedies focus on social commentry, but I'm a fan on ones that do.

BORAT
: Бора́т Сагди́ев) is a fictional Kazakhstani journalist invented and portrayed by the British comedian provocateur Sacha Baron Cohen. In Da Ali G Show, an unscripted television series starring Baron Cohen, Borat interviews people who believe that he is a real Kazakhstani television journalist. He is also the main character portrayed in the film Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.
Sacha Baron Cohen first presented his foreign reporter concept to Channel 4 in 1994[1], and by late 2000 Borat was, in his own words, a "great success."

No borat is an act by brittish actor Sacha Bohen Caron who also portrays Ali G , Kazhakstan whilst itself is a real country borat isn't from it and the portrayal is not close to correct. Remember it is a comedy about a person trying to work out American cuture from a vastly different background.

The place is but Borat is just a highly amusing character! He reckons he's a reporter in his home town and he goes round the US blaggin them to make asses out of themselves. They beleive he is genuine and beleive he wants to learn about their beleifs and cultures etc!
Its actually really funny if you watch it with an open mind!!

Kazhakstan is real, but Borat himself is not. He's played by an actor (Sascha Baron Cohen, who you might know as Ali G from Da Ali G Show) pretending to be a Kazhakstani reporter in order to get people to say outrageous things.
