Very often the only way positive thinking works is if you find your own happy thoughts and figure out ways to think positively yourself.
A different kind of positive thinking involves thinking of all the people in the world who are suffering in ways so horrible you can't even imagine - and then being damn grateful that your problems are as small as they really are (in the context of "all of life" and "all of the world").
Another thought: If you're sick you're not alone; and if you're healthy (and your kids are healthy if you have them) that's all that matters.

I jumped into the car for work this morning and bust the *** right out my trousers! Natures way of telling me 2 get on a diet perhaps?!

Well I don't know you but God does and right there were you are right now may you feel the love of God so abundantly in your life. Because you are alive, because you have a place to sleep tonight because you can look around and see that your blessed in so many ways. Because obviously your a good person seeking good in her life. God bless you and as you open your heart to him and tell him to come into your life and let him govern your heart you may feel the greatest peace and joy that you have ever felt and may he grant you the desires of your heart as you seek him everyday.

One time when my brother and I were walking in the woods, we saw a toadstool (mushroom) with a little toad sitting tight on top of it!! I couldn't believe it, I didn't think toads actually used them as stools!! Anyway, that made me happy. Good luck.
