I can stop it by opening messenger and backspacing the millions of little dashes the pinging is causing. I don't mean pinging the way computer people use that word. I mean that the sound my computer makes is like a (loud!)ping pong ball.

Sounds like the stuck key is actually the "dash" key!!!
