If you know the manufacturer of your sound card, you can go to a computer that has internet access, go to their website, and download the driver on a disk.

It will generally come in an installer format, so after that, you will just need to navigate to that disk on your computer and double click the icon and lead it through a couple of processes.

You need to get the XP-compatible driver for your sound card. First, uninstall your sound card; then go to the web site for the company that makes your sound card, and download the appropriate driver for it. Make a note of where the driver is loaded to so you can refer to it later if necessary. Reboot the computer; it should detect a "new" device (since you uninstalled the sound card, it will consider your existing card to be an unknown/new device). Once it detects the device, it may be able to find the driver, or it may ask you for the location of the driver. If it does that, give it the location of the driver that you downloaded. From there, all you have to do is follow the directions, and you should have sound. If it happens that there is no compatible driver for your existing sound card, it may be necessary to purchase a new card (especially if your sound card is integrated into an older mother-board), but give the download a try first. Good luck!

Go to START, Control Panel, Sound and Audio Devices.

Follow the instructions.

If you have a sound card, reinstall the drivers! Also, be sure to go to the web page for your sound card and down load drivers for windows XP.

No sound is heard on the computer or after Windows has been reinstalled. The audio card is often integrated with the motherboard for computers from HP and Dell. For more information you can check the following site: http://fixit.in/sound.html I find the information givenin the site is more useful
