Pete Carroll. I am not a USC fan, but I think Carroll has exactly what it would take to make it as a head coach in todays NFL. He has NFL coaching experience and wasn't too bad. He compiled a 33-31 record as an NFL head coach over the course of 4 seasons. He has 12 years experience as an assistant coach in the NFL as well. He has always been a student of the game and has an understanding of the game inside out. He has the personality to develop relationships with his players. He is a smart play caller. He knows how to get his players to work hard for him. He promotes team unity, which is a must in the NFL. Being a good college coach is not a guarantee of success in the NFL, but I believe that with his growth as an elite college football coach, Pete Carroll would be a successful NFL head coach right now. He has said he would never go back to the NFL though, so I don't think we will ever find out.

Pete Caroll- although I'm a Michigan fan, USC has to be the smartest team in the country, and he's definately one of the smartest coaches in college football, not to mention, quite a succusful one. I remember two years back I think it was when they perfectly executed a touchdown thrown by the HB to Leinartt and how he ran a flawless zone defense that took our O-Line the whole Rose Bowl to figure out (thank god we have new coordinators).

Plus he's still rather young and would have enough energy to deal with all the TO's and contract issues.

Phillip Fulmer of the University of Tennessee Vols. He is one of the greatest coaches I know of. All he needs is a better team to work with.
