I've met several people....and I actually married one! We've been together 10 years now! I would have to caution against meeting someone until you've talked awhile online...and you should of course meet in a public place....but other than that, I think it's okay. You just have to use common sense!

Of course :) We are still friends to this day! You have to be very trusting, open and honest. Don't meet right away. Talk on the internet, on the phone, webcam and things like that. They're are way too many perverts and scammers out there. Be careful with that but also good luck!

yep, one friend of mine from Denmark and one friend from The Netherlands, both came to visit me here in Illinois- we had a great time- but I must add that we were all over 30 and had been net buddies for years before we met, and had talked on the phone and sent letters and gifts often before meeting face to face- I do not recommend face to face meetings for teens or younger though- it is much too dangerous

Yup. The net can be a great way to meet new people.
For those worried about meeting "weirdos"--you can meet weirdos anywhere, not just online. You just have to make sure that if you decide to meet up with someone that you meet for the first time in a public place.

Yes, I'v met 2 people. One on Blackplanet and one on Myspace. I don't recommend it although the two people I met are very nice people. This world is tooooo crazy to meet people you talk to online. But to each it's own...

no..but i met someone in real life that was so much like someone i met on the net that it really kinda creeped me out...he even used the same lil wierd phrases and stuff..same hobbies, likes, dislikes even the same first name, he even kinda looked the same only a lil older....freaky!! lol
HOLY SH**!! ...i did tell the guy my first and middle name and what state i lived in....and the "real" life guy seemed to just "get" me and know so much about me just like that...that was what made me fall.........ok..now i'm really creeped..i never really thought about it like that before! you know, life is very strange sometimes lol

Yup! It's actually really fun to do it! Like, talk to someone randomly, and then get a convo going, next thing you know your meeting them!
