Completely normal. Some babies are just quicker than others. My son ate for about 10-20 minutes at first. But, he was always really a quick eater!!!

while there are very small they take a long time but 45 minutes still seems extreme... she may be only soothing herself on the breast try taking her off the breast gently after 20 minutes and rocking her gently too sleep...if she doesn't cry then she was sothing herself on the breast....

the first baby is very worrisome....you always worry they will go hungry....don't ...if they are hungry they will let you know through whining....

also make sure that she is getting a good grasp and that she is actually getting milk.

if it is the first days this is normal as your milk hasn't got up to her need yet so she may take a long time to get just a little milk ...this will get better as she gets a little older

She's normal. Some babies eat fast, some slow. Our son would nurse anywhere from 3 minutes to over an hour.

she may be a slow eater or your milk may just let down slowly either way its normal, my daughter since the begining as only nursed for 5-8 min, the doctor said it was cause i had large milk ducts so when i let down its like turning on a faucet, when she was really little i would have to take her off every couple of gulps because she would get choked up.

In the early days, it can often take 40 mins or so for a feeding. They get more efficient as they get older.

Is your baby sleepy? If she is falling asleep during feedings, that can make it take longer too.

No, my son took that long at times and ate every two hours until he reached 4 months.
