Data dictionary contains meta data..
That is data about data. In a huge database U will have a lot of information.. We need to know how the data is stored,its format,its type.... Everything U can get it in a data dictionary

Data dictionary is related to the Database Management System (DBMS) concept.

It is a file which would contain details of how the data are stored in the database file. Like what is the structure, what are their field types, maximum allowed length, etc.
