I'm just wondering what makes you feel better on a day when you just feel down. I'm looking for things that I can do by myself...ie. take a bath, read, etc. Thanks in advance.

Being with my pets, normally I will sit down, and pet her as I slowly write out many of my problems, and begin to focus on other things to keep my mind off the current problem, I later than re-look at the problem, once I have calmed down.

As difficult as it seems to get myself off the couch, I strap on my walking shoes & hat and go for a walk. Even if it's just in the neighbourhood, looking at the way other people keep their gardens, the various trees and so forth, feeling the breeze, it really helps me.
Then I get home, make myself a cup of peppermint tea and soak in the tub. If I've got the whole day, I'll take myself to the nearest bookstore and browse around, then come back and read.

If I'm seriously depressed though, nothing beats sitting out on the pier over the ocean and pouring my thoughts into reams of paper..

I do lots of things. I write in a daily journa where I say everything that I am feeling and stuff that's bothering me. It was a little hard at first but now I have over a hundred pages. I have a big chubby cat that cuddles and that feels so good, that unconditional love. I love taking a bath so I have bath salts and yummy stuff like that. I have meditation cds that I bought that I listen to which helps me sleep, relax, and meditate. You can also go to your local beauty college and it is very cheap to get your face, nails, or a pedicure. I do puzzles, that keeps me out of my head. I am going to learn to crochet which also keeps me out of my head. My girlfriends and I paint each others nails. I call my friends and tell them I am in a funk and I go visit them or just talk on the phone. There is a chat room in yahoo for this but not everyone is nice in the chatroom. You can also talk to you doctor and maybe see about getting on some medications. Good luck.

If I'm in a bad mood I start by listening to really hard music, and as I cool down as I think through whatever is going on, I notice that I start playing calmer music! I like to read, have a long hot shower, watch a lighthearted movie and drink a cup of hot chocolate. :)

Taking a deep breath, looking out at a field of trees and exhaling slowly.......

Sometimes, sitting in a dark room alone..... The silence is welcoming......

I also have koi.... Watching them eat and swimming to get my attention is pleasing to the soul....... Helps to relax.... Throw one pellet at a time... they will even eat out of your hand..... ((they're fish)).....

Your sister,
Ginger

Right now, i'm sort of depressed cos my mate's undergoing a major surgery on the 25th, and his chances for survival isn't quite impressive. so for me, to be appreciated by my mate when i reach out to him and help him even if i'm hurting somehow makes me feel better. i know this ain't the answer that you're looking for, but ye. goodluck to you. cheers!

Chocolate releases endorphins, thus making you happy- and to an even extent- exercise actaully does make you way happier- try it, good, strong exercise makes me uncontrollably giggly!
