An Iraqi court recently sentenced former dictator Saddam al-Hussein al-Tikriti to death by hanging. Saddam's lawyers argued that, since he was a military officer, he should get shot to death by a firing squad (which is how the Iraqi Army carries out executions of soldiers) rather than hung (which is how the Iraqi Ministry of Justice executes civilian criminals).

What do you think - should Saddam Hussein be shot, or hung?

Saddam should not be executed. I am in no way a fan of the man or his actions, but convicting him in a puppet court is no way to prove that he committed horrendous atrosities. Furthermore, the death penalty is an outdated and uncivilized measure of punnishment that will go away in the near future. As the saying goes, an eye for an eye will leave the whole world blind.

Given the recent months events and the "internal" Iraqi attitude/conflict amongst they selves, I say; that before you set any execution date; Saddam should be let "loose" upon these cowards whom are killing each others women, the old, the innocent, and their children.
People like these only understand one thing;
and that is Saddam.
All this romanticism about given them their "freedom" at the cost of the lives of our young men and women in the service and ; !!!which "freedom" they have used to "kill and ambush" US and coalition forces has to be done away with.

Edit:
I edited the third line from the bottom, so all the bleeding hearts here can give me some more, or ; all the "thumbs down" they would like.
Truth all hurts ; doesn't it?

GW Bush has been responsible for killing of more innocent civilians than Saddam Hussein. They should have the opportunity of sharing the same firing squad.

I'm just suprised the human rights watch isn't going nutzo over this. They haven't said a thing about the punishment of being hanged, but on the other hand, they let imams in the UK and France who preach terrorism and hatred and genocide stay with the immunity of deportation. Eh... I hate amnesty international...just hang them all.

He should be hung just because he doesn't want it. He probably thinks it is demeaning so that is reason enough for me!

Neither. He should spend the rest of his life in prison.
