What difference does it make ? If both 'rules' brighten a person to be more enlightened and to be a dear child of God then both are great. Maybe there is no difference...they are both the same simply phrased differently.

Confucius uses the negative, Jesus - the positive statement.
I find them to amount to the same.

Confucius said, "What you do not wish upon yourself, extend not to others"
Jesus said, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"
They sound the same, but they are not the same. The first is proscriptive, while the second is prescriptive. Confucius is warning people not to do wrong to others, as they would not want such wrongs committed to them. "You shouldn't be stomping on other people's feet if you wouldn't want the same done to you!" Jesus, on the other hand, is asking people to be good to others, as they'd like good things done for them. "If you understand what it is to be helped and loved, you should do the same to others" Confucius' message is one of practicality, while Jesus' is one of love.

One is couched in negative terms - Do not do unto others what you would not have done unto you. Confucius' is stronger.
