Network messages in XP?

I have a home network set up and all comps are running windows XP. I want to easily send text messages to other users. I know it is possible in Linux using "wall". Is there a similar way in Windows XP?

the built in way is to use the "net send" command otherwise you have to get a third party IM program

There is an old utility called winpop that may be what you ordered.
