What's a sugar pot?

In the Brave Saint Saturn song Resistor, Reese mentions being "bitter like the broken sugar pots". Can anybody tell me what he's referring to?

I think I understand what he's saying about his sister, but i'm actually just trying to figure out what a sugar pot is.
