How does this make you feel?
IT IS THE SOLDIER

IT IS THE SOLDIER, not the reporter, Who has given us the freedom of press.

IT IS THE SOLDIER, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech.

IT IS THE SOLDIER, not the campus organizer, Who has given us the freedom to demostrate.

IT IS THE SOLDIER, not the lawyer, Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

IT IS THE SOLDIER Who salutes the flag,
Who serves under the flag, Whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Charles M. Province
This goes for all Soldiers, Sailors, Marines

My husband is a Disabled Vet.
An if 9/11 is brought up,my husband and I were stationed in NJ at the time and my husband's ship was loaded for deployment and in NYC Harbor when it happened I could see it from where I lived. Out of the top worst 2 day's of my life that was my top one.

An if your wondering what the point of this is... Just to make you think!

Nunoyvgvna Awi,

If that is how you feel that is fine, That is your right. An none of us can take that away from you. You have a mind, you can read, you have your own feeling's. Speak your mind but do learn how that right was given to you. I feel that if your going to speak how you feel at least know the facts and if you did look up the facts and that is still how you feel that is fine and that is your right. All I have asked is that you THINK!

You have the RIGHT TO CHOOSE! You have the RIGHT TO MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND! All I am asking you to do is THINK! I SUPPORT the TROOPS I always have and always will. That is my CHOICE and my RIGHT! But like I said all I am asking is for you to THINK! Look FACTs up and LEARN. An THINK for yourself

Wow! Thanks so much for posting it. It is so absolutely true, and so needs to be said over and over again.

It makes me feel. . .
- grateful for those who have fought and died for my way of life.
- sad that so many of today's youth don't get it (those who bash their president and talk about 'brainwashing' don't realize it is they who have been brainwashed. . . )
- fearful for the future to come. . .

Who is Charles M. Province?

I am going to post this poem on my website blog, ASKEW - it's a political site. I hope it's okay.

Sad to say most people in the U.S.A. today do not want to think about why we have the freedom that we do. Yes it was the soldiers who put their lives on the line for us in many wars and still they do not get the credit they should.
As a Nam vet I think about this most of the time when watching the " un-bias" media report what is happening in Iraq.
For those who believe that you or anyone has been brainwashed then they really need to re study their history and find out that it is not brainwashed but rather a pride in the country that we live in that helps us take pride in our country. No it is not perfect but it is way better than any other country out there!

good point. you know, i didn't even think about it this way until i've read this. i don't agree with president bush's war, but i do support our soldiers. there is such a fine line between right and wrong that sometimes people get confused or unaware. and i think this is what is happening to this country right now.
sixty years ago, going to war had a meaning. respecting soldiers was a given. today? it's lost in translation.
i don't know how i feel about your question. it makes me feel uneasy, kinda reevaluating our values and morals...
i personally don't know anyone who is a soldier and am not one, but i think a soldier is an never-ending war. once you have become a soldier, it will be there forever. the sense and pride, i suppose. its funny because we, as Americans, certainly don't respect soldiers as much as we should today...
on veteran's day, only a handful of people will actually put up the American Flag to honor these veterans in my city.
so unreal... "it is okay for Americans to not know, but it is great danger when Americans don't know that they don't know..."
good luck & bless you.

A friend of mine asked me why I have two flag magnets on my car saying "support our troops." They asked why I support the war. My answer was that I dont support the war necessarily. I dont think any war is good. But I do support all the men and women that go out and put their lives on the line everyday to protect the freedom we are able to take for granted. People should realize just how brave and courageous the soldiers really are.

That was very moving...never thought of it like that. Both of my granfathers served in the air force, my dad served 22 years in the Marines and my husband has served 4. I know first hand what is involved in being in a military family. I am very thankful to each and every serviceman and their families for the sacrificies they have to make.

I think the statements are right on.
I think most Americans DONT think...that's whats wrong with our country.
We have become human "lemmings"...just following in the last guy's footsteps assuming what he did was the right thing to do instead of looking past our noses and opening our eyes to make a change.

VALID from an American perspective. Not so in other world countries. IT IS THE SOLDIER who abuse civilians at the point of their guns. Not all but many.
