Story topics:

Battles (Bernard Cornwell's "Sharpe's Eagle)
Crime capers ("Drowned Hopes" by Donald Westlake)
Love Stories ("Romeo & Juliet", "Emma")
Mysteries (any Agatha Christie mystery)
Spiritual Realization ("A Christmas Carrol")
Historical expeirences ("Night" by Eli Weisel, "Little House On The Prarrie")
Adventure/ treasure hunt ("The Codex" by Daniel Patterson, "Treasure Island")
Revenge ("The Count Of Monte Crhisto")

If you are looking for other types of love stories, they all boil down to one of 3 basic plots. The love interests will fall in love and suffer tragedy (as in "Romeo & Juliet"); fall in love but are kept apart by forces/situations beyond their control; or fall in love and live happily ever after (usually after defeating the forces that are fighting their union).
