We have taken him to the Vet but my husband is in the Army and we live in South Korea, there is only one good American vet around here but they are far away (some 2 hours) but nothing is helping him. He is a Yorkshire terrier. Can some one please help us out? How can we stop the itching and make him feel better?

Um...has both of your dog's testicles come out? My dog only had one come out but he was okay, then a few years later, he started to go bald because of the one that was still inside him. He had to get surgery to get both removed. His coat grew back within weeks of the surgery and his coat got even better! Besides that possibility, I don't know what else you can do. I hope you can find help...

I agree that it sounds like Allergies, just because you would assume mites (which cause mange) would affect year round. The bald spots can just be from her licking herself, though if they're in areas she can't reach then you might suspect mites more. You can get a simple skin scraping done at the vet to check for mites, and also purchase a medicated shampoo that should help with the itching. They also have allergy shots they can give her. On the off chance it can be food related (maybe you changed food right before summer?) you can try switching brands to one with different ingredients.

It's probably MANGE

First of all DON'T LET YOUR KIDS TOUCH THE DOG.

It's a good idea to get rid of any dog toys or bedding that may
have mites resident.

Take it to a vet.

A SIMPLE WAY TO PRESUME THE DIAGNOSIS OF SCABIES IN DOGS
Scroll down to see a movie of the Pinna-Pedal Reflex

In over 95% of dogs with Sarcoptic Mite infestation (Scabies) a simple test can suggest that these mites are present.

It is called the Pedal-Pinna Reflex Test.

Since almost all dogs with Scabies mites will have mites along the ear flap (called the Pinna) margins, as displayed in some of the photos below, the dog will reflexively use a back leg in a scratching motion if the Pinna is scratched gently by a person testing this reflex. Simply take the Pinna between your thumb and forefinger and vigorously scratch the surface of the underside of the Pinna with the forefinger. Dogs with no mites seldom work the back leg in a scratching motion. Dogs with sarcoptic mites almost always will demonstrate an involuntary scratching motion with the back leg while you are scratching the Pinna.
