if I am on one computer and I have the IP address for another one and I want to see what is on the other one from the one I am on, is it possible to do that? I have tried doing a remote desktop connection from the computer I am on to connect to the other computer, but it will not work since I do not have acess to the other computer and internet connection sharing is disabled on it and the person who has access to the other computer refuses to enable it. But I just want to know if there would still be a way to connect to the other computer using a command prompt since I cannot do a remote desktop connection. Like is there anything command I can type into a command prompt along with the IP address for the other computer that will allow me to connect to the other computer from this computer?

Well, I do not think that there is anyway to do so using the command prompt, but there is a way using the Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection software that was most likley built into your computer. To access this, go to: 1. Click on start 2. Go to All Programs 3. Find Accessories 4. Click on communications (at the bottom of the list) 5. Remote Desktop Connection should be there In order for this to work, security settings on the other computer have to be set to allow all outside connections (this has to be done because by using Remote Desktop Connection you are indirectly connecting to a computer) and the firewall settings have to be low, or off. I hope this helped, and good luck!! : )

You don't need Internet connection sharing enabled to use Remote Desktop.

As for a command prompt, you could use Telnet or SSH to connect to the remote computer, but only if the remote computer has those services turned on.

Yes, possible, but Windows don't ship it other than Remote Desktop in XP Pro (not Home) and Win2k.

The real alternative that is most straight forward to setup is the free utility VNC, many asked similar questions on your topic before, browse through them to piece up a good solution fit for your case.

Short answer: Yes.

Longer answer:
It depends on how the remote computer is configured. It also depends on what operating system the remote computer is running. One of the best ways to figure out what's available on a remote system and what OS it's running is using nmap. But to make this short, it just really depends on what's going on.

First thing they have to enable remote access on their pc or you might as well give up right now. 2nd you need windows messenger and then you will be able to even control their mouse. I watched my hubby do this with his friend when he was working on his animation..buddy was helping him!

I doubt you'll find what your looking for here. There are some good haX0R sites out there with everything you need but I must add that this isn't something to be taken lightly.
