And how large an insulated storage bag (i.e. how much volume (ml/ounce/bottles) of milk) would you expect to pump in a 9-6pm day?

Thanks!

Medela Pump in Style. It's a double pump - recommended by my lactation consultant - it worked great for me (ER nurse doing 10 hour shifts) when I returned to work when my baby was 5 months.

The amount of milk someone pumps varies greatly. I used to pump 18-24 ounces in a 10 hour shift (at 5 months post partum) but, by 12 months I could only pump 8-12 ounces. Some people pump more some less.

Good luck to you.

A Medela Harmony single manual pump will run you $35 or less at Target. I HATED manual pumps until I got this one. It was easy to use and honestly I never knew it was possible to get so much milk. With my first child I was lucky to get an ounce. With this pump I got four ounces easily in one sitting. And it doesn't hurt either. And there is no irritation of muscles from pumping. The pump does all the work. My lactation consultant told me about it and I thought she was nuts, but she was right. I love it.

Stay away from any pumps made by companies that sell formula or bottles. Serious conflict of interest there.

this is alicia
For some reason, the name of the pump that i bought has left me. It starts with a M-Medela. i bought one for about $250. It sounds like alot, but man, was it worth it. It looked like a black leather brief case. It was a double electric pump. I do nails in a beauty shop;honestly, I could sit at my nail station, with the bag in front of me, my pump positioned, talk to everyone, and no one knew what i was doing. Also, this pump, has a storage compartment for an icepack, milk etc. One more thing, it also has a car adapter. you too can pump and drive.
I used evenflo, bottle bags, twisted the top, and put a rubber band around the top. it was the cheapest way.
