I understand.... Unless it's Bing Crosby ('Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas etc.), Dean Martin or Slade ('Here it is, Merry Christmas' - which always reminds me of English Christmasses) - I generally find them far too commercialised and just a little too cheery. To put a smile back on your face, here are the lyrics from my favourite Doors song - I'm sure you know the tune:
Yeah!, come on, come on, come on, come on
Now touch me, baby
Cant you see that I am not afraid?
What was that promise that you made?
Why wont you tell me what she said?
What was that promise that you made?
Now, Im gonna love you, till the heavens stop the rain
Im gonna love you
Till the stars fall from the sky for you and I
Come on, come on, come on, come on
Now touch me, baby
Cant you see that I am not afraid?
What was that promise that you made?
Why wont you tell me what she said?
What was that promise that you made?
Im gonna love you, till the heavens stop the rain
Im gonna love you
Till the stars fall from the sky for you and I
Im gonna love you, till the heavens stop the rain
Im gonna love you
Till the stars fall from the sky for you and I
Merry Christmas! ; ) *HUG*

Yes my favorite oldies station started the day before thanksgiving and will continue until Christmas I have switched stations as it is depressing to listen to it over and over I like most Christmas music but all day every day plus it is way to early as are the decoration that have been up since Halloween it just agitates me as I get tired of seeing the same lights for so long and listening to the same music how many Christmas songs do they think there are? the week before Christmas would be quite enough and even then they could not play them all

Yes. It drives me crazy. Nobody on this planet needs to hear Jingle Bells 184 times in one month.
My favorite cure when I get fed up is the Christmas Classics from Christmas in South Park. Cartman's version of 'O Holy Night' never fails to put me back in the spirit of things and the Santa vs. Jesus sing-off makes me laugh every time.
My favorite Christmas songs are ones seldom heard on the radio or in retail establishments like the David Bowie/Bing Crosby version of Little Drummer Boy and a song called 'The Christmas Wish', sung by none other than Kermit the Frog and featured on the John Denver and the Muppets 'A Christmas Together' disc. That song has a message I wouldn't mind hearing on the radio a little more often:
The Christmas Wish
I don't know if you believe in Christmas
or if you have presents underneath a Christmas tree
but if you believe in love
that will be more than enough
for you to come and celebrate with me
for I have held the precious gift that love brings
even though I never saw a Christmas star
I know there is a light I have felt it burn inside
and I have seen it shining from afar
Christmas is the time to come together
a time to put all differences aside
and I reach out my hand to the family of man
to share the joy I feel at Christmas time
for the truth that binds us all together
I would like to say a simple prayer
that at this special time you will have true peace of mind
and joy to last throughout the coming year
and if you believe in love
that will be more than enough
for peace to last throughout the coming year
and peace on earth will last throughout the year.
Now I'm gonna go listen to Dark Side of the Moon. Merry Christmas.

I worked retail for many years and hearing Christmas music for 8 hours a day for about 6 weeks straight if more than a life times worth if you ask me. I'm not a humbug or a Grinch either but dang people, you can only hear Rudolph and Frosty so many times.

Doesn't everybody? It's the epitomy of corporate American getting your money by taking advantage of our screwed-up emotions.
"Americans are *!*. They've been bought off. And they come real cheap: a few million dirt bikes, camcorders, microwaves, cordless phones, digital watches, answering machines, jet skis and sneakers with lights in 'em. You say you want a few items back from the Bill of Rights? Just promise the doofuses new gizmos." George Carlin
....and to set the facts straight, it is not a ROCK station if that much crap is on it =)
