Ok, for starters, bi-polar people do not change from manic to depressed overnight constantly, they spend long periods of time at each extreme. So I'm just gonna go ahead and assume she's not bi-polar, and just tells people she is because it helps her get away with saying a whole lot of things that others will just write off as "oh, it's just cuz she's bipolar". Could she be depressed? Yeah, it's possible, but I'd put more chance in her just being an emotional basketcase who doesn't think about what she says or how it affects anyone around her (better known as a teenage girl)... Find a new one, you'll be better for it.

Happy one moment and upset the next is not always a sign of a disorder. Moodiness is part of life. It could be something else that's bothering her or it could be that you are so inconsiderate and blind that you don't even know what's going on.

You probably annoyed her and then she over reacted. She then felt bad for over reacting and apologised to you for the way that she told you off. That's human behaviour not bipolar!

Bipolar disorder is not simply 'being happy one moment and upset the next'. Generally, mood swings that occur with bipolar patients are episodic and last as long as a week or even months and inbetween episodes or while on medication, a bipolar person can be just as 'normal' as you or me.

Playing psychiatrist is not a good idea especially when you don't have all the education needed and start spouting out to everyone you know "omg so and so is bipolar!" It's a problem that many intro-psych/abnormal psych students find. I think you should stop worrying about whether or not you or your girlfriend has a mental illness and start paying attention to what you are doing that ticks her off so much! Because you are doing something. She's not saying you didn't do anything by apologising for yelling at you.

My father is Bi polar and although symptoms range some clasic symptoms are feelings of grandiosity, severe highs and lows and restlessness. Some Bipolars can go weeks without sleep. Mood swings are part of it but for my father at least its more like thinking he can control the world one minute to unbelievable saddness and/or anger and there's lots of paranoia in there as well.

I think she is just trying to get you to show how much you care about her. When she says those sort of things to you, don't respond with an aggressive come back, but try and convince her how much you care about her. And most girls are completely confusing, so thats my opinion.

bi-polar is one of the hardest diseases to diagnose. sometimes it takes yrs to accurately diagnose it. there r several other diseases that have some of the same symtoms. yes wild mood swings r one of them. there is treatment to help maintain it. one of the biggest problems with bi-polar, is alot of the people with it, often won't admit there is anything wrong.

She sounds like a teenager. May be too young to diagnose as bipolar. Either way she sounds like a shrew.
