It was on Yahoo! about Mary Cheney's baby. Unfathomable - who is the father??? The article talked about her and her girlfriend like it was their natural child. This is sick and wrong - her grilfriend is not the father anymore than my best friend is the father of my children that my husband put into me!!! Does it not take male and female cell contents to create a new human? Now it doesn't matter where the child came from - if its in a lesbians body - the father is a woman??? How can they treat it like it's her girlfriends child - the child has none of her genes whatsoever. That child WILL want to know who daddy is - regardless of this "wonderful" living situation he or she is in. Every child wants to know who their biological father is - I don't care what these radical liberals are trying to push with these articles. The article poses it like those HORRIBLE conservatives are at fault that these women can't marry even though they have a baby afterall. It's assinaing - who is the father??

Just because I believe this is sick and wrong doesn't mean I can stop them from getting some guys's sperm and getting it injected - but that doesn't make it her girlfriends natural child by any means. Okay so just because I think it's wrong - I can't stop lesbians from going out and getting babies - but it's not that couples' genes. Give them the custodial rights to the child - but don't call it marriage! This is not a reason to allow homosexuals to call their unions marriage. Marriage since the beginning of time has included the NATURAL ability to procreate. That is something special and set apart. Give them their rights whatever - don't call it marriage. They should change civil unions to include parental rights too - I mean that's happening all the time - much more frequently than this.

I've NEVER met a child who didn't want to know their natural mommy and daddy regardless of how the genetic pieces came together and where they ended up. That says something in itself - it's only inherent and natural for a child to want a mommy and daddy because that's where they come from.

Interesting. I do agree with your general idea here, but if a single woman can go to a sperm bank then why can't a lesbian woman. I mean, legally she is still "single".
I think that you were angered by the "ultra liberal" tone of the article.
I agree that every child has the right to know who their father is and a woman that goes to a sperm bank is denying her child this right. I am not talking about morals, values or these issues, those are separate. I am talking about a child's right to "at least" know who their father is, nothing more. Who raises the kid is a different matter.
As to treating this child as if it is the child of the girlfriend, well, that is just not right, not right at all. Quiet disturbing in fact.

But here is the question of the day...... since her father has made it an issue not to allow gay people to be able to share their lives together legally..... if something terrible were to happen to Mary then her parents could take the baby away from her girlfriend and not allow her contact. That is what I think is terrible...... she could raise her as her own and because of the law not have any parental rights
