how do you get rid of your history of what you have typed in the actual search bar on the start menu this is in windows xp home edition.

This is cleared when you clear your Internet History oddly enough. Launch Internet Explorer. Click on Tools | Internet Options and click Delete History.

And just ignore the moron who voiced their opinion about Dell instead of trying to help you resolve a problem.
