It's not just Christians who are at war it's the whole country in the US and other countries who are helping them. It's more about a country then it is about just one group. It would seem like it's a war about religion but it's not. It may be on the other hand considered to be a religious war for those in the middle east.
I am pretty sure that not all the soldiers that were fighting in the war weren't all Christians. People should stop blaming groups of people for things that aren't true.
Look more at the issues and not at the people. When people blame a group of people then the real issues will get overlooked. I don't know enough about American politics so I can't really comment on those things.
Another thing is not all people who say they are Christian are Christian unless they give their lives over to God. Yes the bible does say those things but when it comes to your own country and some other country threatens you what would you do?
Would you allow another country to come and take over your country? My parents went through the second world war. My father fought with men who weren't Christian but gave their lives for their country.
That's a fact and I thank God my dad went to war for my freedom back then because that was when Hitler was in power in Germany at the time and it wasn't fun for him. It was his civil duty and he was one of the lucky ones to survive because I wouldn't be here if he was dead.
Another thing is when Hitler was in power many Christians sacrificed their lives to protect Jews from going to concentration camps by hiding them in their attics in Europe. These were European Christians.
Do you think that war wasn't hard enough on those people living europe? Do you think that they should have backed down and not fought for the freedoms we take for granted today? No one likes the idea of war but if a country has to defend it's self for freedom then they will do what they have to do.

Here's one scripture you forgot about. This also became a popular song sung by "The Byrds" who isn't Christian.

The whole bible includes both the Old and New Testament.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
1TO EVERYTHING there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven:
2A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted,(A)
3A time to kill and a time to heal, a time to break down and a time to build up,
4A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5A time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones together, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6A time to get and a time to lose, a time to keep and a time to cast away,
7A time to rend and a time to sew, a time to keep silence and a time to speak,(B)
8A time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.(C)

Turning the other cheek is referring to a personal level. Not a national or world level.
I am not pro the war.
but, how logical would it be to be bombed and then think we can just turn the other cheek and let the west coast be bombed too.
This other cheek thing isn't logical on a world-wide level.
Some people inturrupt this as -- if someone hits you just let him hit you again. Naw!. It just means that you don't need to retaliate. It doesn't say ....be ye a whipping board in the world.

Christians have special interpretations for that scripture and this one is somewhat convoluted. Turning the other cheek was some kind of insult to Roman soldiers. They really did not mean that they should take insult graciously and not return evil for evil.
Today, the Christian trend is to take deadly preemptive strikes as prescribed by Pat Robertson of Daniel Ortega, the democratically elected President of Venezuela. Kill him, take his country's oil; that is the new Christian doctrine. By their works you will know them. We know what Pat Robertson and his kind are saying: Give me the money.

I believe that the main reason why we went to Iraq was to stop terrorism and free the oppressed people there. That's still why we're there. Will we succeed? I doubt it. That will require an act of God. But supporting this war for those reasons is honorable.

Some people say they are Christians when they don't practice it. There are times when you have problems turning the other cheek. We are all human, and we make mistakes every day. We are forgiven if we ask the Lord into our hearts. We must confess our sins daily to the Lord. to keep a short account.

For the same reason that all the other religious groups who teach the same lesson do the exact same thing.
They all want to be right and nobody bothers to try and understand each other.
Just like children.

they're turning the other cheek alright, but it's the cheek at the back they are turning, not the one in front.

Because we are taught to "obey the law" and to give Caesar his due. You might recall that the Hebrews were told to "take" the promised land. You should do your homework before you attack people.

To learn is one thing. To follow is another. It's a difficult thing we all stuggle with. I wish it were so easy to follow.
