so my bf's sis and i are buying each other gifts for christmas and such. the limit is $30 dollars at the most...i thought about getting her a couple of things like there is this thing/make up palette for
$12.50 at sephora and for $15 there is a mini brush kit also at sephora. my bf's sis is 20 i think and i do not want to get her something that she will hate. do you guys have any good suggestions for her? here is what she likes: make up and lots of it and the good kind and nice clothes but overall she is really down to earth and not snobby or anything!i also thought abour getting her a pearl bracelet with marcasite rose on it for $30 since i know that her 2 brothers-my bf and her other brother haven't thought about that. also is a cashmere sweater a good idea? i mean there is Marshalls and TJ Maxx where i can find things cheaper. any suggestions and hyperlinks would help! thanks

but i hung out with her once or twice: once at an Easter party her and my bf's family was hosting and another time just briefly. we have spoken over the phone and i ended up helping her in chemistry class at midnight. so i do not know her that welljust by hanging out with her twice that is why i need some sort of help! i know that my bf told me that she is totally into make up and all girly stuff such as Sephora and Ulta and Bath and Body Works stuff since she works 4 Express and gets discounts at a lot of stores!

I wouldn't be against make up, but if that's what you decide, here is what you do. Chat with her and suggest you go to shopping. Go to a store that allows you to sample make up, like Ulta, and just goof around with her in there. The bracelet sounds like a sweet thought, especially if it's still within your limits. Clothes, I'd suggest the same thing as with the make up. Just make sure you get colors and brands she likes. Just in case, make sure you get a gift receipt!

I suggest maybe some nice perfume, or maybe there are cheap tickets to a concert she wants to go to. You can find some GORGEOUS scarf and gloves sets for under $30. If she lives on her own, maybe something for her home, like new silverware, some nice bar glasses, etc.

I think you should buy her something worth about $20, then find a really nice picture of her and your boyfriend, blow it up to an 8 X 10 and put it in a nice frame. Thats pretty thoughtful and personal.

Gift certificates are always nice. Maybe for a massage, but that would be more than $30. Or for a restaurant you think she might like, or for a store like Bath and Body Works.

I don't think cheap jewelry is a good idea. If she likes make up that much then she probably has enough of it.

Good luck!

Have you thought about getting her a gift certificate for a day spa? Maybe one for each of you so that you two can go together and get to know each other better? I normally hate gift certificates but if it's for something personal that the other person never thought of, then they can be a great gift. You could also do a complete make-over type thing, the list is endless. You said her 2 brothers, so I take it she doesn't have a sister? I'd definately do something ultra-girly that sisters usually do together. The time spent together will be remembered a lot longer then the perfume or makeup you could buy her.
Good luck and Merry Christmas

IF you know her well enough to know she would absolutely love the bracelet - I'd say go for it. A girl can never have too many pearls with marcasite IF that is her style.
Not too sure about the make up idea but if she likes things like that and you are pretty sure what kinds of colors she uses that could be good too.

Cashmere sweater? I spent nearly $30.00 for a pair of cashmere gloves for my sister - I don't know how nice of a sweater you could find for $30.00. Maybe one of those soft shrug type sweaters would be cute?

Hope this helps a little - have fun!

I don't think buying them gifts will make your kids attached to them. And yes, you probably did sound weird as I have never heard of this happening before. Some people just like to buy kids toys, I do! Relax and enjoy Christmas, the kids will love more gifts. Perhaps you are having a hard time realizing that if you marry you will have to share your kids with your spouse and his family. I understand and that is perfectly normal. You will have to open up at some time.

I would definitely go with jewelry, in fact the bracelet sounds perfect! These are heartfelt gifts that establish great relationships and show you wanted to get them something meaningful and nice, not some plastic makeup compact from a shoipping mall store!

Well, get her a pearl bracelet with marcasite rose on it for $30 since you know that her 2 brothers( your bf and her other brother) haven't thought about that.
Good Luck!

If she's into girly things and all, then get a gift certificate from one of those stores you mentioned and let her get something. Cashmere is good but unless I know for sure what a person likes, I won't get it.

Don't get her makeup because you dont know if she'll really like the colors. If you do get her something, get her something like the brush kit. Its pretty universal.

Don't get clothes either.. unless you know they'll fit 100% and that she'll like it.

Get her a bracelet, lotion set, a necklace..etc.
