Jay S ha sgot the point right.

128 kbps is 16 kBps
144 kbps is 18 kBps

So there is no chance you've ever got a 100 kBps (meaning 800 kbps) on you 128 kbps line.

First off, P2P speeds are not really dependent on your max download speed. They generally depend on the number of leeches the seeder is feeding, the number of hops the bits take and your PC's load & hard drives write speeds.

I have Comcrap's "8MB" high-speed but it inly hits that speed when I do a Skeaeasy Speedtest. Generally I get about 3Mbs on big files from big server farms. Most downloads from smaller sites or government sources get about 1Mbs, so speed probably isn't your issue.

Secondly, what type of P2P are you using? If it's Kazaa, Limewire or the like - then your going to be really slow (as well as dealing with spyware/adware). If you have a BitTorrent client, then you need to ensure that your NAT & firewall ports are configuired correctly. Your software will usually have a FAQ/walk-thru that will tell you how to properly configuire it. I have used the original BitTorrent but moved to Azureus about 8 months ago and am very happy with it.

Finally, if you are using a BT site, make sure it's one of the major sites. Some of the smaller sites (i.e. bootleg music/gaming/****) have fewer seeds and thus have slower speeds. Hope this helps!

Hi ,

Listen Mr. Doubts, The connection of 128kbps only provide 16kbps download speed, that you seen on your pc 100kbps is the connection speed of ur dsl. I explain it to you listen wht you get 16kbps on your 128kbps connection is your CIR (Commited interface rate). This is the download speed that you get in each and every conditon, and wht you see once 100kbps is the Burst rate that is ifn not oher user on the same dslam(an instrument used to divide a 2 mb link for dsl). is active then you always get more bandwidth ....
ok

With regds,

Firstly, you might be confusing a few terms here

The small 'b' means bit. A bit is a 1 or 0.

The big 'B' means byte. A byte is a string of 8 bits.

128 kilobits per second is really 16 kilobytes per second.
