I have Miltie effects pedals, overdrive pedals, every pedal known to man. but the only pedal that will give me that heavy distortion sound is the boss metal zone. The pedal is very versatile being able to give your amp a high end sustain like an 80s solo or a deep heavy thumping distortion like disturbed or god smack. It also lets you switch back and forth between your distortion channel and your clean channel on any amp. You wont be disappointed with this pedal. p.s If you use a boss equalizer in front of this pedal the sound is unbeleivable.

Whoa there Killer. Lets talk for a minute. First you have to let us know what type of AMP you have dude! a top of the line Dist. pedal on a crap amp will sound like....? CRAP!!!!!!!!!! if you want a good pedal to use, check out the digitech metal master or find something that has a tube preamp built in. All the bands you are listing go for that HUGE rectified chunky tone, and most of that tone comes from the huge harmonic response of vacuum tube amps like Mesa Boogie or the Crate blue voodoo. I would look for pedals that add a bit more top end gain rather than adding a whole new distortion because it is likely when yo utry to mix the two, they will soudn like crap together unless you really try hard to EQ and match them up right. In the end, No pedal will ever match the sound of natural amp distortion unless you are a master of line 6 digital modeling, and eve then its probably still impossible. Listen bro, take my word for it, if you had the right amp....you wouldnt be worrying about a distortion. save up, by a tube amp. you wont regret it. I PROMISE you

I shopped these last week. Go to musicainsfriend.com and type in distortion in the search box. It brings up about 80 pedals. You can click on each one and they have alink to a sound sample on the product details page. You can listen to a sample or two of each one.

digitech grunge distiortion pedal. it is the best. it can range from a light distortion for playing blues and a chunky one for metallica. even though the "distortion factory" and the "death metal distortion" sound like great pedals, they destroy the tonal quality of your guitar. the grunge is only around 40 bux. its a great pedal.
