(1) If you are reviewing a movie, as a critic or anthology writer, it is legal to use images from movies.
(2) If you give credit to the source, and if it is for one time "educational fair use" it is probably not going to cause a legal issue
(3) For music there is some time limit, such as 17 seconds, that a clip can be aired freely
(4) How long is the scene? Can you capture a few still shots and explain the action in captions? Otherwise it could be a huge file.

No, it is not illegal, as long as it is a "small part" of the original work. This falls under the "fair use" doctrine of copyright law. In particular, see bullet 4 of the link below.

You can use a clip, just be sure to cite your source at the end of the clip or at the end of your power point presentation on the reference slide. People will tell you that it's okay to use it but it isn't okay if you don't have a citation.

i found the clip i wanted at google video, you can use any website... just add the link onto a powerpoint page and when you click it, it pops up... when you exit out of the internet, your power point will be waiting for you to proceed to the next slide... the trick is finding the right clip on the net... try youtube, yahoo, etc. to find the right clip

Yes, that would definitely be illegal. You'd have to get permission from whoever markets the movie.

I have no clue if it is legal or not, but I do it all the time... I'm sure I have had teachers who do it as well... go for it, I doubt Interpol will be knocking on your door

It's usually ok in education to use outside sources as long as you completely site your sources.

Yeah it's fine if you're using it for a class or something and you aren't using it to make money off of it.
