I have a 12 yr old spdng tk in OH--I live in NC--court in OH wants me to pay fine. I now am retired and rcv SSN early funds, because of disability. Is there a statuate of limitations on this? Do I still have to pay fine to OH? NC took my license 1 yr ago, and due to get it back Jan 5,2007. Can the court block my gtng my license back because of this tk? Does OH and NC share info on this to prevent me gtng license back?

If they had never asked for payment, it may have disappeared, but you say they want the money. Obviously they have asked, so it is not going to disappear. You could be arrested if you drive into OH. They could also have your NC licence suspended when you are due to get it back it they decide to get nasty about it.

I think that there is a statute of limitations on it. A ticket that's 12 years old SHOULD be null and void by now. I would call OH to find out for sure. I had an old ticket that had disappeared after some time and I was able to get a license. I didn't bother for a few years as I live in San Francisco and commute by bicycle or bus. Hubby became disabled and I had to get a license a few years back and I had no problem.

Pay the ticket! You apparently earned it. Talk to the OH courts and see if the fine can be reduced due to your circumstances. If not, pay it or make payment arrangements. They may be able to add additional fines or even issue a warrant. If they are still coming after you after 12 years, it will only get worse.

It's possible your license could be held up, but that depends on NC law, you would have to ask the DMV there. Or, just wait & see what happens.
