Every little person I have ever encounter has been treated the same way I treat anyone I pass. A smile and a nod, or a polite, "How's it going?"
I have a question for you, though. What is the proper etiquette for helping a little person? I was in a lecture with a man who could not get up on the seat. He ended up putting his bag down and stepping on it to get up into the seat. I wanted to offer help, but did not know what would be considered inappropriate. Should I have offered to pick him and place him on the seat if he did not have a bag to stand on? Or, should I have looked for something else for him to stand on? I am not sure about the line between offering help and insulting someone. Of course, I realize that not everyone is the same and that each person has their own degree of what they find acceptable, but is there a general rule of thumb?
Thanks!

Treat people like people! Smile and say hello! It's like Horton said, "A person's a person no matter how small!" I was out with my kids just 2 or 3 weekends ago and we met a little person in Target. My youngest is a very friendly 17 months old and she was waving and smiling like she does with everyone else. The lady played a quick peekaboo while we said our hello's and my older kids told her about some of the cute things their baby sister does. It was no different than any other chance meeting we've had with people who love babies (and we met several that day). My kids thought it was cute that she was so little, not the slightest bit scary! And this is the first time I've mentioned that the lady was a little person while telling this story.

I wouldn't do anything. When I walk past ppl, I don't smile unless they smile. I'd treat you like any other person.
Wow, theres a big height difference between the two of us. I'm five foot eleven, and your three foot four.

I see little human beings each and all the time and that i do no longer cope with them any distinctive than the different individual. in reality i hate the term little human beings or dwarf. to me each human is in straightforward terms a individual! i all started thinking like this whilst i replaced into interior the 5th grade. there replaced into this small boy that in basic terms transfered and he did no longer know every physique. in the initiating we thought he replaced into in basic terms truly clever till we found out how previous he replaced into. And ya i replaced right into a style of ignorant impolite comedian tale makers back then. a minimum of till the day he kicked my @ss. i will nevertheless experience it 15 years later... guy he replaced into the 1st individual to break my nostril and the only individual to cut up my eyelid!

I quite honestly do not focus on or judge a person by their appearance. I enjoy people's differences and am friendly to all people and treat everybody the same. What a boring world it would be if we were all clones of each other :)

Your still a person. I would either smile or say hi. I also don't tell everyone I see that I saw a little person that day. You see people everyday, Its just not that big of a deal to me.

id treat you like a normal human being. You are a normal person too. the first time i saw a little person i was like wow thats cool! i told my mom i wanted to be little too. i didnt know it was dwarfism at the time but the lady just looked at me and laughed and said "Thank you for making ME laugh instead of laughing at me. "

my mom is a "little person" so to speak so no. my mom stands 3 foot six. you just have to understand that alot of people don;t really open themselves up to people who are not like them. sorry you go through stuff like that. i wouldn;t waste time on it, it just means they are stupid.
