well, more than what it already is? i went to a christmas parade, in the small town where i grew up. and i just remember it being more genuine. but this year, they had plasma tv's on a float. they would have a truck with the company advertisement, decorated with a bow. what kind of float is that? that was actually the majority of the parade. there were probably 20 real floats out of the 75 entries. i know people advertise to make money, but sometimes there are more important things and times when it is just not appropriate. one day, i know, they are just going to have advertisements on peoples coffins, or gravestones... :(

if people just didnt have to do what is "in" they would be much happier. i mean its cool if you want to buy an old expensive classic car and remodel it, but buying a sleek razor phone because of what people will think of you or because they are in, is just crazy. if we didnt do this so much, we would be happy with the fact we have a roof over our head and food, and transportation. many people in the world would love to have the bare necessities in life: food, shelter, clothing, medical treatment, and transportation.

As long as American idiots continue to buy and fall for every stupid advertisement posted, then yes, everything will become an advertisement.

Got to drive an SUV, drink starbucks, and have a Motorola phone. Now we must drive a hybrid, follow the south-beach diet, and own an MP3 phone. They just advertise and we buy. I hate it too.

As long as the Advertisers can charge the mega-bucks for the products that they are advertising, and entice those who do NOT reflect on the BLESSINGS that they already have (but just have to keep buying to make themselves happy), then the Advertising will be there. As soon as it becomes unprofitable to advertise -- then the Advertisements will disappear.

Read "Jennifer Government", by Max Barry. It describes a future not unlike what you're thinking of.
