I LOVE Harry Potter fanfiction! I just adore it. It is my freedom.
You know that disappointing and kind of annoying feeling you have when you're following a storyline, whether it's a book or a movie, and the story suddenly goes in the opposite direction of what you wanted? Well, I don't have to worry about that anymore. Fanfiction offers me the freedom of exploring the story like I want it be. It comforts me whenever I think about the cruel canon. :)
My favourite HP ships are: Harry/Draco (Drarry), Harry/Snape (Snarry) and Harry/Voldemort. I guess you can tell that all these ships are as far from canon as possible, but they are all really popular ships with lots of fans and support, especially Drarry. :)
I can't even remember how many Drarry fics I've read so far. Some of them were just the kind of fics I'd read to make boredom go away, but others were really good and clever fics that could have been successfull novels. Either way, I love Harry/Draco and Harry/Snape fics. I love seeing how the authors make the transition from hate to love, from rivals to lovers. I love fics that deal with impossible situations.
By the way, I've read some Snape/Hermione fics as well (I especially remember one where Hermione was forced to sleep with him for her grades or something like that - it was pretty dramatic, but very well written.) But I don't think this is a twisted pairing. Lol, not at all. There are a lot of other really freaky ships out there. You need to explore the depths of fanon's craziness better. :)
For example, I've heard of Hagrid/Dumbledore, Filch/Dumbledore, Voldemort/Dumbledore and many others of this kind...

Yeah, some are twisted. I don't read those. But some of those people are really good, and I wonder if they're professional writers. I love the Snape ones, but not with Hermione. The writers White Raven, Rickfan 37, and The Stars Hold Nine Serpents are great--especially the last one. (I think they're at Occlumency.) There are some funny ones too. There's this one really weird one I like; I think it's called "100 Drables About Karkarov" or something like that. Search for Karkarov at Fanfiction.

Pfft....Snape and Hermione? That's not even that bad...just wait until you find some REALLY weird ones and to your question yes I do read and write Harry Potter FanFiction, but I have a feeling you'll think my writing is on the 'Twisted' side of things.

Try the Sirius/Lupin ones. Those can get pretty twisted, and I love them! I like them the twistier they are. Snape/Hermione does get a little annoying at times though.
FictionAlley and mugglenet have the best fanfiction. I occasionally find agood read at sugarquill, and I love quizilla. Mind you, most on quizilla are badly written, as are on fanfiction.net and others, but mugglenet has the best quality of writing. It is really hard to get yours submitted and excepted, only the best. I also love portkey because it has anime mixed in it.
FictionAlley, after mugglenet, is the best quality for a good silly read.

I don't read HP fanfiction. I have read some LOTR fanfiction, but I'm very picky. When fans start changing things and going WAY against how the author intended the characters to be (for example, I doubt J.K Rowling would want Harry making out with another guy in the book, or that she'd have an adult teacher forming a sexual relationship with a student ) it just makes me sick. How can they call themselves fans when they twist around everything in such a way? Fanfiction should further the story as the author might have done, or pay homage to it- not make it into something completely different...
But to each his own, I guess x_x

I read and write them. Yep, some are really...let's just say are so weird I have a lack of words for them. Which is why I stick to writing tragety. Though I do like slash. ^_^ Well have fun reading.
