Or do I have to wake him up to eat? When can he start to sleep longer? I don't want to disturb him if it's not necessary.

If he is sleeping for 4-6 hours at night, that it terrific! Let him sleep. As long as he is a healthy weight and your pediatrician agrees. If it is during the day, I would wake him up to eat, so he is eating every 3 hours. The goal is to get him to sleep through the night and be awake with naps during the day. Have him eat, have activity time and then sleep in a cycle throughout the day until bedtime. Once you put him to sleep at night, let him sleep as long as he will go. My daughter is 8 months old. She started sleeping 6 hours at a time at night at 9 weeks old and by 3 months she slept through the night. Just make sure he is getting 7-8 feedings in during the day at one month old. Enjoy your son!

My daughter is 5yrs old the Dr. told me when she was a baby to wake her ever 4hrs to feed her but I never did. I let her sleep, She had acid reflux as a baby she whiened herself off the bottle at 9months and I gave her whole milk because she refused to drink formula sometimes she would sleep for 7hrs at a time it is ok that he is sleeping my daughter was never in the 25% if u think about it they did that study on children in Montana an I am sorry but my kid isn't from montana and her father is tiny weight wise so I wouldn't really pay attention to the percentile my daughters pediatrician says as long as her weight is staying the same or going up and not down she is fine with it. So don't worry too much if he sleeps a lot he is a baby, babies sleep. now if he didn't sleep then I would be worried.

At a month old, let him sleep, as long as he is a normal weight. If he was a premie or under the 25% for weight, I would wake him up to eat. If he his weight is not an issue, then let the boy get some shut-eye and enjoy some sleep yourself!!

It is perfectly fine for a baby to miss a couple of feedings, and babies need to sleep 16-20 hours a day at this age, the child's brain develops in his/ her sleep. Just enjoy the quiet for now, it will not last long.

Your pediatrician will have a lot of information for you so does babycenter.com, I personally believe that they should eat every 2-3 hour when they are that young. Don't ever be afraid to ask your child's doctor, your baby could be at a perfect weight that he/she doesn't need the every other hour feedings, that's why his doctor is a better judge on this one

I know I am just a daddy but my wife always enjoyed the sleep. We have 3 kids and a fourth on the way. If the baby is healthy and not under weight then just roll with it and get some sleep yourself.

my doctor told me that a baby needs to eat every 4 hours and was very serious about it so I woke up my baby every 4 hours to feed her and at 1 month old I din't wake up and neither did she, I freaked out but guess what...she was fine and i never woke her up to eat after that, w/ my second I never woke her up to eat and she was sleeping through the night at 3 weeks old. If your baby is hungry, believe me he will let you know, so there is no need to wake him.

My son started doing that too and I was sooo happy. As long as the Doctor says the baby is healthy enjoy your extra time. If the baby is hungry he'll wake up.

Are you complaining!!!! You are soooo lucky. As long as he is coming through fine when the pediatrician checks him and the ped. is aware of his sleeping patterns. He should be just fine.
