Why r people discouraging u from staying in kingston? I live in Kingston all my life and it is a great place. U can have fun in Kingston, there is lots to do there especially at nights. Obviously it will be less touristy than say Negril, Ocho Rios and Mobay, but u will still have a good time. If u need beaches and 'tourist' stuff u should definetely to the resort areas. And contrary to what u might hear, u WILL not stick out in Jamaica because u r white, there a LOT of white Jamaicans u know. Noone in Jamaica really gives a **** about harassing tourist u know, Jamaican people are just fun loving and wants to show u a good time. In the tourist area, people will try to sell u stuff (souvenirs) but they are just trying to make a living, u dont HAVE to buy it. Just say no thank u. In kingston (at least in my circles) we are well travelled educated people who are just out in our beautiful city enjoying what life has to offer.

By the way, Jamaican food is one of the best kinds of food in the world. If u r used to BLAND food then it might be 'yuck' as someone said.

There are many great hotels in Kingston such as The Pegasus, The Hilton, Hotel Four Seaons, Altamont Court etc. but if you choose not to stay in Kingston you could head for Montego Bay, Negril or Ocho Rios where you can check into the Sandals or Breezes Resorts.

If you are staying in Kingston you should visit our nightclubs, Hope Gardens, Devon House & Port Royal. If however, you will be in any of the other places I mentioned, I would suggest Dunns River Falls, Magaritta Ville & Aquasol Beach Park. There are also tours of the island which you can book as soon as you get here. Enjoy.

I live in Jamaica and surprisingly I have been to Kingston a few times but Kingston is fun. It is busy and it is the first city but it has all the fun spots. It has clubs, nice hotels and nice shopping malls. Dnt let anyone discourage you from having a good time. If people think that crime is a problem, well, ther is crime evrywhere so there is no need to worry about it. Come to Jamaica and go to Kingston and have a good time.

Kingston would be okay for a short visit but you wouldn't want to spend a lot of time there. You could visit Devon House if you're into history and see the memorial to Bob Marley if you're into reggae music. You could even take a *guided* tour of Trenchtown. I would suggest skipping Port Royal though. Consult a Rough Guide or Lonely Planet guidebook for details.

The Blue Mountains are nearby if you're into hiking.

If you are not into the cultural or outdoor-exercise aspects of travel, however, and only want to hit the beach, you should skip Kingston altogether and take a short flight to Montego Bay where you will be within a short shuttle-bus ride of any number of top-notch beaches.

As enriching as your suggestion is, i don't believe of there is any way we can settle for it till we adventure it. it really is what life is all about; the united statesand downs, and getting by it by gaining knowledge of from it. If we are advised to stay a particular way, we are going to by no skill understand why. The uncertainty is significant; it truly is a key component to self-discovery. i'd as well admit that I really have only slightly all started my own procedure self-discovery, and that i too am wondered, uncertain, and slightly too careful of what's to come back. In time, i understand i visit study that life has no guarantees; no longer some thing should be envisioned or assumed, it may in common words be done... yet I really might want to GET to that aspect to be in a position to truly realize it. The words i'm announcing in common words mean a lot, with out the adventure to diminish back it up, i won't be able to be confident I understand my own words. life is finished of uncertainty... and admittedly, i imagine we ought to continually save it that way.

KINGSTON IS A BIG CITY, JUST LIKE ANY OTHER CITY, THEIR IS NOTHING WRONG WITH KINGSTON, FOR HOLIDAY VISITORS I SUGGEST THAT YOU GO TO MONTEGO BAY THAT IS MY SPOT, I KNOW LOT ABOUT MONTEGO BAY, PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN OTHER PART OF JAMAICA WILL RECOMMEND THEIR PARISH, JAMAICA IS A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY,AND ANY ONE WITH STRAIGHT MIND WILL LIVE AND HAVE FUN IN JAMAICA WITHOUT NO FEAR,PEOPLE WILL GET ROB OR KILL IN ANY COUNTRY, YOU WILL FIND ALL KIND OF CRIME ALL OVER THE WORLD, IN OTHER CITY IN THE WORLD I MEAN BIG CITY LIKE NEW YORK, CHECK IT OUT AND SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE GET KILL DAILY AND ROB DAILY, CHECK WITH THE REGISTER GENERAL IN JAMAICA AND YOU WILL SEE THAT PEOPLE WHO GET KILL VIOLENTLY IN JAMAICA WILL BE UNDER A THOUSAND PER YEAR COMPARE TO OTHER COUNTRY, SO WHAT IS THE FUSS, AS LORD LARA WOULD SAY IF BOY STEAL A MANGO IN JAMAICA IT MAKE HEAD LINE IN OTHER COUNTRY, BUT ALL THE CRIME AND VIOLENCE COMMIT ED IN OTHER COUNTY STAY UNDER THE RUG.

Negril is the place to be , no concrete jungle and seven miles of topless beach. My wife and I had a great time there and are going back next year

You should watch a movie titled "Life in Debt"

You can probably find it on YouTube. It'll change your mind about vacation in places like Jamaica.
