I was sleeping on the couch with the TV on and halfway heard something about New York City banning trans fats in restaurants. Is it true? If it is, what do New Yorkers (or anyone) think about it?

I think it's great but also see that it is going to cause a lot of problems in the restaurant industry.

I heard that on the news too. I think it's utterly ridiculous. Everyone has a choice of what to put in their mouths. It's called personal responsibility. Nobody used to worry about this, and this wide ban on trans fats is going to do nothing for heart attacks and obesity rates. If anything there are going to be a lot of smaller restaurants who will go out of business because the non-trans fat products will be more expensive to buy.

Personally, I wouldn't even look at the health warnings they have to post or put in their menus. I'll eat what I want to eat if it sounds tasty.

I heard that on the news too. I always thought of New York as a place to get greasy pizza, and steak and cheese sandwiches on the street. I'm sure their are plenty of Trans Fats in those 2 items. Or the famous Hot Dogs.
I'm sure that it will be a healthier choice for people, but that's probably why they eat the foods they do anyway, for the taste.

Yes it's true. It's being phased in over 6 months and there are some exceptions, such as items the resturant receives prepackaged that contain trans fat may still be served.

It's true bc I read the article to the class yesterday. Go to www.technewsworld.com and look up the articles from yesterday, it's on there. I knew they were going to take that measure one day but I didn't think it would be this soon!

Personally, I think it's ridiculous.

Unless someone is a pure idiot or a bad parent, people have a choice of what they eat.

If I want to treat myself to a doughnut once a decade, I want it to tate GOOD.
