I grudated from OU with my B.S. in meteorology. It's a great school if you are into severe weather and want to storm chase as a hobby on your own. You'll likely find others who'll chase with you. It's also a very reputable school and looks incredible on a resume. You will learn the fundamentals, but be prepared to work very hard. You have to take the calculus sequence as well as physics before you even get into the meteorology. This is the case at most other schools offereing a B.S. in meteorology, but I've heard OU is a bit more difficult than others.

But the school of Meteorology at OU is more foccused on research than forecasting. To learn more about forecasting you must do the voluntary Oklahoma Weather Lab (forecasing shifts). You can also do weather briefings and there is one forecasting class offered. OU is not focussed on forecasting.

If you want to dive into forecasting I've heard great things about the Penn State program, which requires you to (I believe) take a couple forecasting classes.

I am currently a senior at OU. I was a meteorology major my freshmen year. I had to change my major mainly because of all the math classes, not the meteorology ones. I was told that even if you do bad at OU in meteorology, you'll still look better than a student from another university because OU has the best program for it. If you are passionate about the science, I'd say go for it. Just make sure you keep up with your math!
