I work for a pub thats about 4.5 miles from my home. New people have just taken over. I work late nights 3 times a week, and they won't provide me a taxi. The people that used to work there allowed me taxis home. I was walking home tonight, and got picked up by the police.
Also, they won't sub me on my wages. I have been there 3 weeks, and literally have no money, no food, no toiletries ect. Any ideas how I can solve that dilemma? I can't ask anyone, cause no one I know has any cash at all, we are all in the same boat, except I have just run out of stuff... =S

Btw the only way home is across a huge pitch dark field, or down a motorway...

EXCUSE ME???
I got picked up by the police for walking along a motorway, because I did not want to get raped in a field.

It's not illegal to do this the management are bloody tight you should either change your job or change the hours on the basis that you should not be walking in the dark.
Take the money from the till to pay for the cabs and put an I OWE YOU in the till

Well the new owners i would not think have the responsibility for providing you transportation. If you got picked up by the police it must have been for something.
So it is YOUR choice to work there. If I were you I would ride a bike if that is an option. 4.5 miles on a bike is not really not a big deal except in bad weather. But you got to be careful these days. Good luck and Merry Christmas

You were just lucky before that your employers paid for your transportation. They have no obligation to do so unless it is in an employment contract.
I don't understand what you mean by "sub me on my wages." Employers are obligated to pay their employees within a reasonable amount of time. Ask them when you will be paid (i.e. biweekly, monthly, whatever) and get it in writing. If it has been 3 weeks since your last paycheck, they need to pay up.
They have no obligation to pay you early. Your employer is not responsible for these things. Sorry.

Sounds like to me you're in the UK, but in America the employer would have no legal responsibility to provide transportation to you. Unless you happen to have an employement contract stating as such. You should still check with a lawyer because some localities might have certain laws regarding this situation.

I don't think the pub has any legal obligation to provide you with transpotation unless they have agreed to do so in a contract. I doubt they have or would do that.
It sounds like yuor old bosses were nice guys and looked out for you. The new ones might be nice guys as well, but most employers don't provide transportation for their employees. You may have to lower your expectation.

You are responsible for your way to and from work. Have you not received a pay check? They should still pay you the way your were being paid before. Are you a tipped employee? If they aren't paying you, you need to let your local labor board know.

a business hasn't paid you in three weeks, and you expect them to get you a taxi ; if your old boss paid your cab fare and paid you ontime and the new bosses won't pay you... look elsewhere and stick in there until your pay comes, goodluck and maybe take the bus!!!

They don't have to provide you with a taxi or bus fare. They also don't have to sub you for your wages.

Sexy trojan is right - they don't have to provide transport or sub you. Please try and find someone to meet you and walk back with you and in the meantime please look for another, safer job. Your life is too important to risk for these circumstances. Good luck
