It saddens me when kids have so much, yet want the world. Even on talk shows, with Christmas giveaways, adults are jumping up and down and screaming because they recieved something. It is just so sad the way the holidays have become about shopping and going into debt and not celebrating Jesus or at the least, family and helping the less fortunate. Opinions??

It's the celebration of Jesus that ought to be phased out. Don't even think about messin' with the rest - it's perfect.

The only thing I can say is that you can't change the world, you can only change your world. I have raised my son differantly than others and don't do the Christmas thing, as I remind him, every day is Christmas around here, and I don't reserve all my good behaviour and helpfulness for one day of the month, I endeavour to be that way every day of my life, as I believe that is what Jesus wanted.

Christmas is all about love. Why do we recieve gifts? Because someone cares and loves us enough to get us something. Why do we give? Because we care and love enough to give. Why did God give us Christ and Christmas? Because He loves and cares. Giving means something to you only when you love and care for the person you're giving it to. Revieving only means anything to you only when you recieve from someone you love and care about. Love is what gives all meaning.

Unless, the world sees this which is the meaning of Christmas, it will continue to loose all meanning and will eventually be just a "happy" meaningless holiday of commercialism instead of a Merry, Joyous, Loving, and Meaningful Christmas.

i agree. not about celebrating jesus, but about family and love, and the fact you have a roof over your head, running water, electiricity, and you dont have to walk 20 miles to get food.

It is a mess, I can't wait to see the answers. Giving only means something when you give with no intention to receive.

Teach our kids that Christmas is about giving, not getting.

Actually, teach them that LIFE is about giving, not getting.
