Good job for asking a really hard question.

I would say yes. Thats what I believe. like the last guy said some quantum mechanics guy is gonna say some crap, well thats me. There are states of electron spin and electron orbit interactions where the electron is forbidden to have a spin along a certain direction. It cant and it has to. If you are fimiliar with precession and gyroscopes you could say that as an object rotates during precession its time average is 0. the thing has to turn and when you make a turn you spend just as much time pointing all directions making the average zero. But that doesnt mean the thing didnt turn. If you could somehow put a vector on this turning object to quantify its direction and then square that vector you would no longer have negatives and the average of the squared term would exist, it wouldnt be zero. Doing this you could verify that it did indeed turn.

In quantum mechanics this exact phenomena occurs with whats called spin-obit coupling. Without confusing you and myself, the direction of the spin when averaged has to be zero, it also has to exist, and its finite magnitude also has to be zero, but its square must be positive. And this has been observed experimentally through what is called the Zeeman effect.

From this zero being positive and positives coming from zero's you can either believe in acausality and put a name on it or you can just say it is. It doesnt really matter either way because I dont understand it, you dont understand it, and anyone who says they understand it is probably lying or crazy.

Maybe: at the smallest level of reality things seem to happen for no reason. However, before all the newagers start jumping up and down hollering about quantum uncertainty, "just anything" does *not* happen to things the size of bacteria and above.
