My second job was as a makeup artist. I worked at a place that ordered makeup from a place out east, and we put a label with our name on it. It was not uncommon to get things shipped to us by accident. So instead of 612 Peacock Green Liners we got Yves Saint Laurent Liners in Precious Emerald Liners - because they were manufactured in the same factory.
What you pay for is packaging, merchandising (they pay to be in all those dept stores), advertising, and "prestige factor."
Don't sweat wearing cheap, or even expensive lipstick - what matters is finding a color that makes you feel Fab!
I'm not a fan of Loreal lipsticks because they smell floral - but otherwise they are fine, though I like cover girl (about 6 bucks) and wet and wild as well (2-3 bucks) - if you have access to those.

You are just paying for their advertising, which they tack onto the cost of the product. But if you REALLY want that brand, try a store like Big Lots first. They have makeup brands like Revlon for under $2. Check out the $ stores, too.

my wife swears by mary kay; she puts it on when she fixes her face in the morning, and after she eats lunch. At 9:30, when she got home the other night, her lipstick was still on from lunch. Her favorite shade is Cappuccino-lip liner, and Apricot Glaze;lipstick.
Every where we go, someone want to know what lipstick she is wearing. it never fails...

I only buy L'Oreal once in a while to pamper myself. There are loadsa brandless lipstick out there with better quality. So not worth it.

no, your only paying for the name, its like going to the store to buy vegetables or tuna fish do you buy the cheap store brand or the name brand. THEIR BOTH THE SAME its only a label, and your paying for the name. try a cheaper brand and see for your self
