Let's look at it this way, you are vastly overrating Troy Smith. Let's start off with his height, he's listed at 6'1 which is undersized but is going to measure up to 5'11. How many QBs in the NFL that start and go in the 1st round are 5'11?
Then you would throw out the argument that he has tall OL but guess what? He does not run a pro-style offense which makes his height much more crazy. You won't win in the NFL out of the Shotgun every year or through 4-5 WR sets.
Now let's go to his deep-ball strength. He has no deep-ball accuracy nor strength whatsoever. I've seen Ted Ginn slow down countless times in order to try and catch a lameduck by Smith. He won't throw for many yards in the NFL with that arm of his.
Now some of you are acting like Smith is this amazing athlete which he is not. Vick, Vince Young, Seneca Wallace, etc. all ran in the 4.3-4.4 range which is freakishly fast. Smith runs around a 4.7 which is not bad but hardly faster than Brady Quinn.
If I seem mean, I apologize as I have answered this question countless times.

Brady Quinn is a good QB but Troy Smith is my pick. He knows how to win small and big games. Quinn is plain out horrible when it comes to the big games. If he can't do anything in big games, what makes you people think he can do a damn thing in the NFL. I would pick Brennan from Hawaii over him. So what he's in the WAC. The guy is gonna end up throwing over 5,000 yards and will prolly be the new single season passing touchdown leader. But all in all, Troy Smith is the best, you can;t say he's not.

TROY SMITH!!!!!!! Brady Quin is an exceptional qb. BUT....he doesnt bring the mobility and leadership that Smith has. Quinn's big advantage is the fact that he is like 6'4'' or 6'5'' while Smith is 6'1''. Troy Smith led THE Ohio State University to twlve wins this year, an outright Big Ten title, a trip to Arizona, Oh, I almost forgot...he has beaten Michigan three straight times and has led OSU to wins against Notre Dame and Texas. Its obvious that Smith can perform well under the pressure of a big game. Just ask Michigan

Brady Quinn by far. There are other lesser known QBs who will be picked in the draft ahead of Troy Smith. Smith is a great college QB, but unlikely to make it in the pros.

There's no question about it! Brady Quinn is far and away a better QB and has a great NFL future ahead of him. Troy Smith's glory days will be over on January 8th!!!

probably Troy Smith, but we all know that Brady Quinn will be the 1st QB selected and probably the #1 pick in the upcoming NFL draft. Troy has grown a lot this season and proved a lot of doubters/haters wrong as his team has steamrolled the competition on their way to an undefeated record.

Smith is not going to be a great nfl qb probably not even a good nfl qb, he will be another in a long line of heisman trophy winning bust he has a great college game but not one that translate to the nfl. Quinn is already playing in an nfl style offense and coaches and gms in the nfl are all very aware of this and he will likely make an impact his first year.

i think troy smith because he has the ability to run out of the pocket if he gets in trouble. and since both probably might get drafted early to teams with lousy O-lines, Troy Smith will be a no brainer
its easier to progress as a passer than progress as a running QB

First lets see what Troy does in the National championship game. If he has a vince young type game where he gets player of the game award then i got to go with him no matter what Quinn does. If he has a lousy NC game then i gotta go with Quinn.

With the exception of Joe Montana, what Notre Dame quarterback made a significant impact in the NFL? Enough said.
