I want to buy a pair of black loafers that can be worn both with medium to darker jeans around university during the day, out at nights clubbing/bars with darker jeans and a dressier shirt, or also with a pair of black dress pants.
Is it possible to get one all encompassing pair of loafers? If not for one to wear with jeans in casual to dressy casual situations should I get: square or round(pointed) toe? And I know for more casual, not shiny. Thanks

They are a little expensive, but J. Crew has the BEST mens loafers. If you think about wearing them as much as you describe, it's worth the money!

banana republic has comfortable driving loafers with a square toe. they're very easy to dress up or dress down, and they're the most comfortable shoes you'll ever wear because of their pebbled sole
