That's a tough one. I would have to say no because I know first hand what it would do to my family and how bad it would make them feel. My grandfather had Alzheimer's and we had him over the last Christmas before he died and he kept saying what great people we were have him a complete stranger over for the holidays and how much he thought his son, daughter-in-law and grand-kids would like us. Of course it was my dad, mom, sister and my self he was talking about. I was quite literally one of the worse times I ever had.

everyone has a life to live, and a death to give. I'm not sure it's a good idea to mess with someones karmic balance. maybe this is some sort of mental cleansing, or a memory wipe to prepare them for their next life. If you mean should someone be "euthanized" because they dont appear to be funtioning on a recognizeable level, in order to spare them suffering, I dont think so. I think everyone experiences what they are supposed to experience, or feel, in order to keep their karmic schedule. sometimes we owe some suffering. I think it's best to leave others alone in this regard, because it is part of what they must do. suffer or not.

That sounds like Alzheimer's disease. The affected person slowly loses his memory and eventually doesn't recognize his own kids or wife. Ronald Reagan had Alzheimer's.
No, I'd rather have my wits about me and be able to remember stuff, like Christopher Reeve.

As long as you're happy and your physical needs are being met---what more can you ask for--you've come full circle. As an infant you have no clue who your loved ones are--but you're happy and content.

When anyone reaches a point where they no longer possess their wits, can they even know they are happy?
When I reach the point where I am beyond "Caring" I have reached the point where where I am beyond "Care".

I would choose that state over death, BUT i would not consider an existence like that to be truly alive. My experiences, my idiosyncracies, my essence, is gone.
